Cees Ronda: ZJU University Professor & Philips Fellow
This talk deals with applications of light beyond traditional lighting. Examples will be given how light can be used in schools for better learning, in hospitals for faster recovery, for pain relieve and in horticultural applications.
Cees Ronda studied inorganic and theoretical chemistry at Groningen University, the Netherlands. In 1986 he joined Philips Research. His field of expertise is Materials Science. In recent years he has extended his interest to Sensors and ‘Water and Air’. Cees has contributed to a number of Philips Products: Fluorescent Lamps, LEDs, Computer Tomographs and ‘My Reading Light’. He owns almost 50 US patents and is (co) author of more than 80 papers. He edited ‘Luminescence: from theory to applications’ and also contributed 4 chapters to this book.
Cees is part time professor at Utrecht University, the Netherlands and Zhejiang University,China.
He is chairman of the BrainBridge, research cooperation between Philips Research, TU-Eindhoven (NL) and Zhejiang University. He is also responsible for a Research Hub, dealing with Healthcare Applications, in St. Petersburg, Russia.
